WEEK 9 - Forced Connection Pt 1

This week a completely new concept was introduced, called forced connections where it Based on the brain’s ability to link two disparate items, relying on random external triggers that force people to make a connection between the problem at hand and the trigger.

It was interesting as many inventions were made this way, from the very big inventions such a the tent sleeping bag to the smaller ones like a office table with wheels.

One of my favourite forced connection product concept would be furniture, where they would combine different furniture into one. A common one will be a Sofa bed, and a less commonly seen would be a chair into a shelf. They are usually invented to save space or for intrigue.

Overall the concept was a difficult one to grasp at first but interesting and made known that many inventions were made like this, related and improtant to our creative industry where we are always trying to create new things.

In class, we were told to come up with different examples of forced connections with our groups and below is an image of our brainstorming work.
